With the stage almost set, the biggest fair in Europe soon will be welcoming crowds of thrill-seekers to the Town Moor in Newcastle and it is gearing up to be an event to remember.
The Hoppings will open on Friday for a 10-day run - a day longer than normal - with a list of attractions guaranteed to please, with additions such as live nightly music and more food outlets on top of its huge range of rides. The Town Moor site will include traditional favourites, including merry-go-rounds for the very young; dodgems, ghost train, waltzer and carousel, as well as the high-flying daredevil attractions.
Crow Events, the fairground operators who have taken over management of The Hoppings, have revealed that many favourites from last year will be back during the June 16-25 run, alongside the music, bar and a bigger food court, while there will be plenty new rides too. It has announced its full line-up of 42 rides here.

Among them is a new ride which is set to take their breath away. The adrenaline-fuelled newcomer is Rocket Ride, an aerial experience that seems set to live up to its out-of-this-world name.
A spokeswoman said there will be "the first ever landing at the event of the nail-biting Rocket Ride". This will lift people 60 metres into the air then spin them around "in a corkscrew-like motion" before landing them back on earth.
Lovers of white-knuckle rides can continue the universe theme with the likes of the Meteorite, Atmosfear and Outer Limits. Other rides described as 'not for the faint hearted' include Ice Jet and Booster Max.
But there will be plenty of the tamer rides too so everyone can enjoy the fun of the fair. Organisers are expecting around 50,000 to attend during the 10-day run.
