Bigger, better and longer is the message for this year from The Hoppings' organisers who are already preparing for the summer return of the much-loved funfair, along with its Feast Street food court, live music and bar.
The family favourite will be back on the Town Moor in Newcastle this June for an extended run and families can expect even more thrills than usual at what is Europe's biggest travelling fair. Crow Events, which manages it, is promising some of the “biggest, fastest and wildest rides” around.
The fairground operator took over the management of The Hoppings from The Freemen of Newcastle and last delivered a nine-day epic event as thousands of families turned out to welcome it back for the first time since Covid. And, when this summer's visit gets under way on June 16, regulars and adrenaline-junkies will find there are plenty new treats in store.

Ryan Crow, of Crow Events, said: “We have spent the past year scouring Europe for the most exciting, the most thrilling and the most hair-raising rides and attractions and we will be announcing them all in the coming weeks. The Hoppings is a North East institution and this year we have added an extra day to the event so we are determined to ensure there is something for everyone and every single visitor has the best possible time."
The Hoppings, which will be marking its 141st outing on the Town Moor, will run until June 25 and some of its previous top rides already have been confirmed. These include white-knuckle experiences such as Tagada, Extreme and Star Flyer as well as Reverse Bungee, which catapults people 150 feet up in the air with a 4.8 G-force.
The Ice Jet, which is a turbo-charged version of a Waltzer, will be back too, alongside all the family favourites such as the helter skelter; dodgems and ghost train plus the popular Fun House and Magic Mouse Rollercoaster. The fair's Feast Street made its debut on the site last year with gourmet food stalls, large dining area, a licensed bar - a first for The Hoppings- and live music which all will be back on the programme again this year.
The 2022 run attracted around 400,000 visitors and organisers are gearing up to attract more huge crowds. They are due to reveal details of the new 2023 additions in coming weeks.
