Fans of Christmas movie The Holiday are in for some festive disappointment after one of its stars - Kate Winslet - shut down a recent rumour of a sequel in the pipeline.
After reading about the rumour herself, the 47-year old actress was quick to reveal she won't be reprising her role as Iris any time soon, reports the Mirror.
Social media had gone into a frenzy after it was reported stars Cameron DIaz, 50, Jude Law, 49, Jack Black, 53, and Kate were all on board for the follow-up to the original 2006 rom-com.
Kate told People : "I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up."
Writer and director Nancy Meyers, meanwhile, also took to Instagram to debunk rumours of a sequel, writing: "So many DM’s about this - sorry but it’s not true."
The original movie told the story of Surrey-based journalist Iris who swaps homes with Amanda (Diaz) who is a movie producer from Hollywood. The women have both had recent heartbreaks and want to get away from their usual lives.
While in Surrey, Amanda finds romance with Iris's book editor brother, widower Graham (Law). Meanwhile Iris meets Miles (played by Black) and dates him.
When the sequel was rumoured, it was thought that it would follow the lovebirds and see how they're all getting on 16 years after originally finding love with each other
When the rumours were first sparked, The Sun reported that a source said: " The plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the U.K. and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board.
