With February behind us and the spring months upon us, it's time to start thinking about getting back out into nature and making the most of the sunnier weather.
While it may take a while longer for things to truly warm up, March is nonetheless the perfect time to step outside and celebrate the end of winter. Scotland is home to a near-limitless supply of picturesque walking trails, forests, and mountains that are sure to leave you feeling invigorated.
However, there's nothing quite like heading to the beach and breathing in the fresh sea air. There are countless beloved and iconic beaches around the country, from Luskentyre on the Isle of Harris to Gullane in East Lothian.
If it is something a bit more under-the-radar you're after, though, there is a lesser-known beach around only 45 minutes from Glasgow that is well worth a visit.
As reported by Glasgow Live, Seamill Beach is located approximately four miles north of the more well known Ardrossan. It's a perfect spot for those wanting to stretch their legs and take in the sea views while avoiding the crowds.
Stretching along the coast at West Kilbride, Seamill is predominantly sandy with a few rockier sections. There are also numerous rock pools by the water, perfect for youngsters to learn about aquatic wildlife.
If you're lucky enough to be at the beach on a clear and sunny day, you'll be treated to views stretching as far as the Isle of Arran and down the Firth of Clyde. Make sure to keep a lookout for Ailsa Craig — the pudding-shaped island that is among Ayrshire's most famous landmarks.
Not only is the beach perfect for an afternoon walk with the family or alone, it is also a great spot to enjoy romantic sunset views. You can even head to the nearby Waterside or Seamill Hydro hotels for a drink or a meal afterward.
