The Atlanta Hawks delivered a candidate for best team performance of the year on Monday when they unraveled the Boston Celtics, erasing a 30-point cushion. The Hawks’ social media team ingeniously captured the moment by making a tribute — ESPN 30 for 30 style — and it’s perfect.
The Atlanta Hawks have not been having the season they perhaps had hoped for, but a gritty, tough-as-nails win over the Boston Celtics should remind fans that the team is still fighting. On Monday, the Hawks found themselves down big to Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Celtics. Boston’s lead was 18 at halftime and quickly ballooned to 30 points. However, a huge second half with six Hawks in double figures, including 24 points from De’Andre Hunter, changed things.
Seemingly out of nowhere, shots were falling, and Boston was doing all it could to keep up. That’s when Hunter hit what felt like the shot of his life — I’m being dramatic, but BOY, was it SUPER clutch! — to send the Celtics packing. The Hawks erased a THIRTY-POINT DEFECIT, the largest comeback in franchise history. Naturally, a moment like that deserves special theatrics. The Hawks social media team gave it the ESPN 30 for 30 treatment, and it’s fantastic.
