Gamers looking forward to GTA 6 are getting desperate for fresh leaks and news about the upcoming Rockstar title to the point that they're looking to old blog posts and social media posts for clues.
Rockstar announced that development on GTA 6 was officially underway at the start of 2022 and despite keeping a tight lid on things in terms of official updates, the developer was hacked last September which lead to a massive dump of details and assets that it was forced to address in an update.
Rockstar went on a takedown spree shortly afterwards, and managed to get the content taken down but it was shutting the door after the proverbial horse had already bolted at that stage.
GTA 6 leaks have been thin on the ground since, and the community is getting so desperate for a crumb of news that they've starting recirculating old intel and reading between the lines on months-old blog posts. So much so that a GTA 6 map is doing the rounds on social media again, and the GTA 6 release date announcement is being pegged for this year based on a GTA Online blog post from January.
"Every year comes with the hopeful promise that this year will be the year everything finally comes together," reads the old post. "Well, 2023 could be that year," and it's this line that has fans certain that it alludes to a GTA 6 release date reveal. Seems a bit of a stretch but the GTA 6 map being shared is the most questionable of the two; especially since there's an even newer concept that's based on the actual leaks.
Desperate times
The concept GTA 6 map was posted over the weekend on a number of Twitter accounts, but originally popped up on reddit in 2021 as a riff on a Florida location, entitled 'State of Floreada'. The GTA 6 location has been confirmed as Vice City – Rockstar's fictionalised take on Miami Florida. We also know that it'll include the surrounding areas of Miami as well. Or fictional counterparts at least.
There's actually a more up-to-date concept GTA 6 map (above) which was posted to reddit last month that is based on the leaks and includes the 11 official map locations confirmed so far, including:
- Port Gellhorn
- Ambrosia Redhill
- LO
- Sundown
- Copperhead
- Yorktown
- Lake Leonida
- Ekanfinika
- Hamlet
- Domed Hills
"For anyone seeing this, I apologize for the spaghetti streets lol I’m not very good with them as you can tell, I did everything by hand. Each named location is pretty much confirmed in the game and the map is inspired by the coordinates and the mapping project that has been floating around lately!" wrote the OP.
"I have a few other photos without the labels and how it compares to the V map in comparison if anyone wants to check them out, thanks for the feedback yall I appreciate it."
They confirm the GTA 6 map was put together using the "coordinates found and confirmed locations in the hour+ leaked footage from last year."
This is as close to a real GTA 6 map as we have for now, but while it's based on some leaked details., bear in mind that nothing official is out there yet and we have limited official information to go on. It's always fun to speculate though and this particular redditor has done a great job.
