After the menu item took the world by storm last year, McDonald’s has finally made its internet-famous Grimace Shake available to Australian customers. And not a moment too late.
In case you missed all the memes last year, the iconic Macca’s chaotic-evil mascot Grimace — who is apparently supposed to represent a taste bud? — had his very own milkshake in honour of his birthday.
Like the beast it is named after, the Grimace Shake is purple, tastes like berries, and has unlimited divine powers that bring all who come into contact with it closer to a higher power.
The Grimace Shake went bonkers viral last year when it was released across America, after the menu item spawned a bizarre trend on TikTok.
Countless creators and influencers shared their own take on the video trend which began with them conducting a standard taste test of the Grimace Shake.
However, things then got weird when suddenly the creator would be pictured in the aftermath of some undisclosed act of violence, often covered head to toe in the spillage of the purple McDonald’s drink.

Other interpretations added to Grimace’s devilish lore, and included fictional depictions of demonic sacrifices to the purple demon, and memes showing people carrying out unspeakable evils in the name of their gluttonous master.

And now, just in time for the trend, the Grimace Shake can now be bought at Macca’s stores across the country.
The beloved purple freak of nature is also adding a new meal to the menu at McDonald’s: The Grimace Meal.
Wrapped in its own unique packaging that features the mascot, the Grimace Meal includes either a Big Mac or a 10-piece McNugget meal, as well as fries and a drink.
Amanda Nakad, the marketing director for McDonald’s Australia, said the promotion and its menu items are “fun, vibrant, and bursting with flavour.”
“Grimace has been making fuzzy waves around the globe and now it’s our turn to celebrate. We thought there was no better way to channel the energy of our loveable pal than by bringing you the Grimace Shake,” said
“It’s a tribute to Grimace and the joy he’s brought to fans over the years. So buckle up – we’re finally giving Aussies what they’ve been waiting for and we know they’re going to LOVE it.”
The Grimace Meal and Grimace Shake will be available in all Macca’s stores Down Under from Friday, October 4. It will only be available for a limited run though, and once it’s gone, it’ll be gone for good.
That gives you an unknown number of days to gorge yourself on as many Grimace Shakes as you possibly can, all as a tribute to his unholiness.
You know what must be done.
