We may have passed the halfway mark of the week but there are still a few more days of February half term to enjoy. If you’re stuck for ideas when it comes to things to do with the kids then there’s one place with lots to offer.
The Science and Industry Museum has a bumper list of activities on offer this week - and most of them are free. There’s opportunities for children to learn, experiment and have fun.
The family-friendly activities are inspired by the museum’s current exhibition Turn It Up: The Power of Music, a multi-sensory experience which explores our relationship with music. Alongside this is the Power Up exhibition, which features more than a hundred games consoles you can play.

Rediscover arcade classics such as Pac-Man and Mario or jam along with Guitar Hero. Both of these exhibits cost £8 for adults and £6 for children and need to be booked online.
However, there are plenty of free activities taking place too. There’s The Noisy Show, which is a free family show taking place daily at 10.30am, 11.30am and 2pm, aimed at children five years and older - it can get pretty loud so make sure you have ear defenders for those who are particularly sensitive.
Hear from the experts at the Sound Sessions, held daily at 1pm and 3pm and learn about how people work with sound, from guitarists to sound technicians - for children aged seven and older. You can even make your own instruments at the drop-in craft workshop, held daily from 10.30am to 4pm, suitable for all ages.
It’s free to visit the Science and Industry Museum but you’ll need to book tickets online. You can also book tickets for the exhibitions on the museum’s website.
