Paramount Plus' new No. 1 is the funniest movie I've seen in 2025 — and 'The Naked Gun' is a reboot done right

Paramount Plus Paramount Liam Neeson United States Frank Drebin Pamela Anderson Paramount Pictures Tom Guide
Frank Drebin Jr (Liam Neeson) in a school uniform and preparing to throw a lollipop in a scene from "The Naked Gun" (2025).

I really wasn't expecting much from "The Naked Gun," initially. These kinds of franchise reboots and legacy sequels frequently turn out to be real duds. So, after heading into the movie theater over the summer with low expectations, I was thrilled to leave my screening with my belly literally aching from all the laugh-out-loud antics on screen.

I don't throw that "funniest movie of the year" label around lightly, either: "The Naked Gun" is an absolute riot, from start to finish. And if you were skeptical when it was on the big screen, the old-school Liam Neeson-led comedy was made available to stream on Paramount Plus in the U.S. and Canada on September 30, so you can stream "The Naked Gun" at home now.
