Newport Council has released details of all its schools shutting or partially shutting on March 2 for the teachers' strike. Teachers are walking out for a second time in a continuing row over pay after rejecting a renewed offer from education minister Jeremy Miles .
Some schools in Newport will be closed entirely to all pupils while others will only be partially closed. Only two have confirmed they will be fully open.
The council, along with other local education authorities in Wales, said the full picture won't be clear until the day. Staff don't have to tell employers they intend to strike and a coinciding work to rule by heads and school leaders means they won't provide cover for striking teachers.

Unions are locked in a pay row with the Welsh Government with members saying they are walking out to save schools from a recruitment and retainment "crisis" prompted by years of pay stagnation. Many schools are struggling to fill posts in core subjects.
Teachers branded an initial 5% offer from the Welsh Government "insulting". When the minister came back with a renewed offer adding another 3% plus a one-off payment NEU members said "that was not good enough". You can read more details of that here
Head teachers and school leaders in the NAHT Cymru have also rejected the revised offer and are working to rule. Members of the Nasuwt Cymru have also now rejected the new pay offer with that union warning it is committed to a further industrial action ballot of members in Wales unless there is an improved offer
