The first baby Scotland welcomed in 2023 is the star of a sweet photoshoot featuring his clan tartan.
Shauna Moodie and Demetre Moffat, both 25, welcomed Dominic Moffat just six minutes into the new year on January 1 at Crosshouse Maternity Unit, Ayrshire.
The first-time parents were stunned to be approached by a professional photographer who offered to document their bundle of joy. The resulting photographs by Lynne Harper show the wee baby wrapped up in Moffat clan tartan with a woolly bonnet to boot.
Dominic weighed 6lbs 14oz when he was born, and Lynne said he was "absolutely gorgeous".
A special clan kilt pin held the fabric together - and the placid tot managed not be sick.
"It feels quite historic. Dominic was great, he is very contented," said proud mum Shauna. "Lynne got in touch with us as she wanted to photograph him in tartan."
She explained: "She heard about him being the first baby born in Scotland this year and got in touch. It's Moffat clan tartan, Lynne got it from House of Cashmere."
Mum-of-two Lynne, who works at her home in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, specialises in photographing newborns.
She added: "He is absolutely gorgeous. His skin is absolutely perfect. The tartan is folded around him, there is a breathable layer underneath. I was phoning around all the manufacturers for Moffat tartan."
