The ES Shopping Shortlist: What to shop, see and know in April 2024

Welcome to our monthly need-to-know dispatch of the latest and greatest releases that should be on your radar for the month ahead.

With a full-time job, busy social life, and social media accounts to update, it’s challenging to keep up with all the shiny newness out there.

Here at ES Best, we’ve got our ears to the ground and our noses pressed against the digital shopping windows, always looking for the newest fashion, events, and food and drink - so you don’t have to. From sell-out collections to limited edition collaborations, with exclusive events, fresh launches and new store unveilings in between, we’ve got you covered so you don’t miss out on a thing.

April is here, and along with it, British Summer Time. Temperatures may not quite be there yet, but with the clocks going forward and days gradually stretching out, there’s no denying that spring is in the air.

Now’s the time to embark upon that great national tradition of spring cleaning. Giving your house a thorough deep clean and ticking those bigger jobs you’ve been putting off all year - clearing up the garden, defrosting the freezer - will make your space fresh and ready for the season ahead, while leaving behind a satisfying glow at your new neat-as-a-pin home. Find more cleaning products (including all-natural products) than you can shake a feather duster at in our roundups here.

On April 9, Muslims across London and beyond will celebrate Eid. Naturally, there will be parties, feasts and gifts galore - if you need the perfect pressie, don’t miss our gift guide.

Further down the line on April 21, tens of thousands of runners will take in the city’s landmarks as they run the London Marathon. Spectators who feel inspired by their efforts can find the best running shoes for men and women here.

And of course, there’s the usual smorgasbord of glittering new launches, exciting collabs and epic shopping drops to make this April glorious.

If you’re ever at a loss for something to do at the weekend or want to scratch the retail therapy itch, we’ll keep this page updated all month long; it’s best to bookmark it so you’ve got the insider’s guide right at your fingertips.

And now, without further ado: ready, set, shop

Selfridges hosts RIXO pop-up

East London’s RIXO fans have a new reason to be cheerful this month. Until June 9, you won’t have to venture much further west than Bond Street to get your fix because Selfridges is hosting a 10-week-long pop-up for the brand.

The space, the biggest outside of its stores, will house RIXO’s covetable stock including Selfridges exclusives that you won’t find anywhere else. There will be dedicated spaces for all the trimmings too: we’re talking accessories, jewellery, footwear and handbags.

Our credit cards are about to get a serious workout.

Nando’s launches new sauce flavour with footballer Bukayo Saka

Many things in life remain uncertain, but your Nando’s order isn’t one of them. We can reel off ours like our DOB to anyone who’s asking.

Now the chicken restaurant is stirring feathers with a brand new flavour inspired by star winger Bukayo Saka. The celebrated footballer is a die-hard Nando’s fan and has teamed up with its chefs to formulate a new sauce.

On the sweeter side with a fiery kick from smoked paprika, you can find it in Nando’s restaurants exclusively. Why not order it on Deliveroo and ask for a little Saka sauce on the side?
