Keeping the kids entertained over the summer is always a struggle, especially when it comes to finding stuff that will actually get them outside and off their devices.
Thankfully, a short jaunt (just 20 minutes by car) will take you to M&Ds in Strathclyde Country Park where you'll find one of our favourite places to go and one that's ideal for families.
Amazonia is a great place to learn all about animals such as snakes, lizards, tortoises, and of course, tarantulas, with handling sessions for these special creatures also on offer for those who want to get up close and personal.
Priced at £6.75 for adults and £5.25 for children (under 3s go free), the handling sessions cost just £1.25 extra and are great value as sessions last for up to half an hour.

Daily Amazonia handling sessions take place at:
- 11 am
- 1 pm
- 3 pm
Tickets are only available to purchase on the day of your visit at Amazonia’s reception, on a first-come, first-serve basis per session, due to a limited capacity in the room (20 visitors per session), so please enquire and book on arrival.
Described as an indoor rainforest, the attraction is home to over 60 different species and is a great place to learn all about some truly magnificent animals.
You'll find everything from monkeys and parrots to snakes and frogs, while their nocturnal area is home to bats, kinkajou, snakes, and scorpions.
As well as handling sessions they also do feeding tours where you can watch as animals such as fruit bats, monkeys, and snakes are fed.
