The End is nigh for Leeds as trendy bar set to open after £500,000 overhaul

A new £500,000 trendy bar with “top quality entertainment” is set to open in Leeds city centre next month.

Major work has started transform a historic building in Hirst’s Yard, which was formerly Mook, to a new bar called The End. It is set to open on November 24.

The huge investment will see a “complete redesign and upgrade of the site to create an elegant” and inside the bar, there will be an upper and lower bar, railway carriage style seating with pendant lighting in the windows, as well as a mix of velvet and leather covered booths.

A spokesperson for the bar, which will have an overall capacity of 450 people, stated that the steps leading to the lower bar will also have a mix of seating including booths, a comfy snug corner and plenty of room to dance.

They added the décor will have a modern industrial look and feel, with polished plaster walls, concrete polished flooring, and a striking metal back bar display.

The front of the building will also get a fresh new look, showcasing the bar with all new lighting and signage.

Shaun Wilson former Director of Fibre and Mission said: “We’ve been looking for 15 months for somewhere to create a fantastic destination bar. The location is perfect - it’s between Call Lane and Lower Briggate, where all the cool bars are.”

Event promoter Dale Castell added: “Our mission is to create a trendy drinking space with top quality entertainment and a warm welcoming atmosphere. We’re super excited for everyone to see what we’ve done with the place and cannot wait to open at the end of November, just in time for the busy Christmas period.”

There will be an extensive drinks menu including fine wines, champagne, spirits, cocktails, craft beers, pale ales and a great selection of premium draught beers and soft drinks. Entertainment at The End will include some of the regions finest DJ’s, playing the very best in Funk, Soul, Nu-Disco, Funky House & Classics.

DJ agent and manager Eugene Osakwe added: “The building is superb. It’s got real character and lots of interesting spaces to develop over time and we’ve got some great ideas for them!”

Jay Weir, Star Pubs & Bars Area Manager: “We’re delighted that the Twisted Amusement team are taking on this fantastic site and giving it a new direction. Their individual reputations and experience make them the dream team for the bar. They know the area and the local music scene well and how to create the perfect environment for an evening out. I am sure it will be a great success.”

The End will open on weekdays from 4pm and from 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
