The emotional moment Tom Youngs lifts English Premiership trophy with Leicester as Twickenham crowd roar

This was the touching moment at Twickenham when former England star Tom Youngs lifted the Gallagher Premiership trophy aloft just over a week after tragically losing his wife Tiffany.

The 'classy' act came after Leicester Tigers edged out Saracens 15-12 in a pulsating final, with Freddie Burns' drop goal sealing the triumph with just 20 seconds to go.

But the biggest cheer of the day came with the emotional scenes at the end as Youngs joined his former team-mates on the pitch for the celebrations.

He embraced the Leicester players and then collectively lifted the trophy with Tigers skipper Ellis Genge. It was Leicester's first Premiership title in almost a decade. Genge made of point of letting Youngs hold one side of the cup to hoist it into the air.

Youngs had been shown on the Twickenham big screen shortly after the final whistle, sparking a rapturous response from the crowd.

Tigers head coach Steve Borthwick said the club were 'still hurting' for Youngs and described the moment he picked up the trophy as 'classy'.

"It was very classy there at the end, when Ellis and Tom picked up the trophy together. It shows just how tight the players are," he said.
