People in Chilwell have been speaking about the dramatic police response which came after a group were reported to have entered a house carrying knives.
Police were called to Penrhyn Crescent after the group were reported to have entered a property just before 2pm on Wednesday, January 26.
Police confirmed a man had been taken to hospital after being stabbed.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or altering and police have launched a witness appeal.
Neighbours were stunned when they saw the emergency services arrive in the usually-quiet area.
Describing what he saw when he looked out his window, retired Lesley James, 73, of Penrhyn Crescent, said: “I went outside my house to check my car and saw seven police cars, an ambulance and a dog van.
"It never happens around here, it was a complete surprise.
"I’ve lived here since 1976 and it’s the only major thing that has happened on this street."
Neighbour David Fennell, 38, said: "I saw blue flashing flights, three police cars and an ambulance.
"I've lived here eight years and the street is quiet but friendly, I haven’t seen something like this before."
Detective Inspector Gayle Hart, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were quickly at the scene following the call and enquiries are progressing as we hunt the suspects.
“We believe this to be a targeted attack and don’t think there is a wider threat to the public.
“I’m confident that someone knows who did this and I’m appealing to them to come forward so we can get the perpetrators in custody as soon as possible.
“We are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area and are gathering evidence as the investigation continues – but if anyone has vital information that can help us find those responsible more quickly I would urge them to call 101 now."
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting incident 391 of January 26.
Penrhyn Crescent backs on to Chilwell Cemetery and the Chetwynd Barracks military site.
There have been reports of an air ambulance in the area - but this hasn't of yet been officially confirmed.
