The Miami Dolphins, owners of the NFL’s No. 1 ranked offense in 2023, are the only team in the league that hasn’t owned a lead for a second of the 2024 season through three weeks.
The mind-blowing statistic (first shared by ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques) is even more amazing when you consider that the Dolphins managed to get a win on their record. In a Week 1 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami took its first lead of the game when a 52-yard Jason Sanders field goal put the Dolphins on top 20-17 as time expired in the fourth quarter.
In that victory, the Jaguars jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Dolphins pulled off a second half comeback.
But Miami has continued its habit of slow starts without sustaining its ability to come from behind. Through three games, the Dolphins defense has allowed 58 points in first halves and just seven after halftime breaks.
Up next for the Dolphins is a Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans, one of just three teams in the NFL without a win. It’s even possible that the Titans will be the only winless team, as the 0-2 Jacksonville Jaguars and 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals are playing Monday against the Buffalo Bills and Washington Commanders, respectively.
