For many being around water is calming, relaxing and tranquil and you cannot get much closer to the water than this lakeside cabin in Powys which comes with its own hot tub, stunning views and, what's more, it is totally off-grid. Simply named the Cabin on the Lake, you can really escape from reality at this gorgeous location.
The private cabin has one bedroom, one bathroom and sleeps two people. Sitting right on the edge of the lake it would be hard to find a location that is closer to nature. You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.
Inside there is a double bed with Egyptian cotton covers, cosy alpaca blankets and under-bed storage for all the belongings. There is also a well-equipped kitchen that comes with a double burner gas hob, natural powerless fridge, saucepans, crockery, cutlery and utensils.

There are several options for washing. Either notify the hosts in advance and use the shower at Gwalia Farm, heat up some hot water and put it into the cabin's pump shower in its private willow enclosure, or take some water from the hot tub and bathe down by the lake.
The 'loo with a view' offers a truly unique experience as well, with the eco-friendly Swedish-style compost toilet looking out onto the surrounding countryside. Outside you can enjoy the luxury wood-fired hot tub which looks out across the lake and mountains.
Or use the outside table and chairs to sit around the fire pit and toast marshmallows in the evening. The overhanging roof covers the outside decking too, so even when the British weather is unaccommodating you can dine alfresco without getting wet.
The cabin is on a self-sufficient farm and there is plenty of livestock and pets on site. The property is nestled on the outskirts of Snowdonia National Park and Machynlleth is the nearest town, with seaside village Aberdyfi and Aberystwyth not too far away.
You can book the Cabin on the Lake at coolstays.com. There is a minimum stay of three nights and prices start at £86 per night.
