The crucial player Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will be without for Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea

Liverpool will be without Roberto Firmino for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea, whilst Diogo Jota's availability remains doubtful.

The Reds, just like Thomas Tuchel's side, have had their fair share of injury problems in recent times, building up to the showpiece final on Sunday afternoon.

Both Firmino and Jota sustained their respective injury blows in the Merseysiders 2-0 first leg win in the Champions League Round of 16 win against Inter Milan.

They then both missed the 6-0 Leeds thumping and assistant manager Pep Lijnders has now provided the latest updates surrounding each player's current injury status.

"Bobby, we have to see in the next two days. He will not be available. We hope he will be back soon," he said via the Liverpool Echo.

"Jota... so far no reaction on the things he did. That's a good sign. He isn't ruled out, but it will still be a challenge."

With regards to the severity of Fimino's injury, prior to these quotes emerging, an injury expert stated that the Brazilian's type of injury usually would keep a player out for up to six weeks in normal circumstances.

“Jurgen Klopp’s said he’s seen him in training and he looks great, but that he always looks great,” Premier League injury expert Ben Dinnery told Football Insider.

“He doesn’t know if there is going to be a late decision with regards to the cup final. I would suggest with Firmino that is highly, highly, highly unlikely.

“With some of the muscle problems that he’s already had this season, it’s a difficult one.

“Typically, when he suffers these setbacks, they tend not to be on the lower end of the scale. It can be a four, five or six-week return to play.

“The language Klopp shows us we’re not just looking at a seven to 10-day turnaround. I think we’re looking at a grade two injury.”

On the other side of the equation, Chelsea have received a much-needed boost as, according to Thomas Tuchel, every player was involved in the latest training session, barring Ben Chilwell, so Reece James could potentially feature on Sunday following a lengthy spell out on the sidelines.
