The Crown stars Meg Bellamy, Luther Ford and Ed McVey were left stunned as they learned of the Netflix series’ Golden Globe nomination live on TV.
On Monday, the British trio appeared on the Today Show to talk about part two of series six when American broadcaster Savannah Guthrie told them the royal drama had made history as the first show to be nominated for Best Television Series – Drama every single season.
Guthrie announced: “Just moments ago, I'm not sure if my guests know this, it was nominated once again for Best Television Drama at the Golden Globes.”
The young actors were left visibly shocked and gasped in disbelief following the news. The presenter continued: “Yes that just happened!
“I know the final season, as we know is broken into to two parts. The second part premieres this Thursday and it's all about the young royals who are right here.
“That is the first time in that category any show has been nominated every single season it has been on. So you are already part of greatness.”
Bellamy portrays a young Kate Middleton in the upcoming instalment alongside Ford as Prince Harry, and McVey playing Prince William.
The Netflix‘s royal saga is against the likes of 1923, The Last of Us and Succession in the Best Television Series – Drama at the ceremony that takes place on January 7, 2024.
Dominic West, who stars in The Crown as Prince Charles, is up for best performance by a male actor, alongside Pedro Pascal for The Last Of Us, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses and Brian Cox for Succession.
Meanwhile, The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Diana, Princess of Wales, has also received a nod for best female supporting actress on TV, alongside Hannah Waddingham for Ted Lasso and Meryl Streep for Only Murders In The Building.
Similarly, Imelda Staunton, who plays Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, is nominated for best female performance in a TV series drama, alongside Stone for The Curse, Bella Ramsey for The Last Of Us and Dame Helen Mirren for 1923.
