Almost three decades ago, Keith Hall was nearly locked up for a crime he claims he did not commit.
It all started on a cold January evening in 1992 when Mr Hall and his wife Patricia reportedly had a heated argument. Neighbours who had heard them, later said they saw the 39-year-old drive off in the family car in the middle of the night.
She has not been seen since. No body has ever been found, her passport and bank account have been left untouched and her car was found abandoned a mile from her home in Moorland Drive, Pudsey.
An investigation into her disappearance was launched but yielded no results despite extensive searches of woodland and rivers. Mrs Hall's husband soon became a suspect in the investigation after police set up a honeytrap.
An undercover policewoman reached out to him through a lonely hearts ad and gained his trust and love. Mr Hall later told her that he had strangled his wife and burned her body in an incinerator.
However, a jury at Leeds Crown Court found him not guilty after a judge ruled his "confession", which had been recorded on tape, as inadmissible. His defence also argued Mr Hall had been tricked into incriminating himself.
Mr Hall also claimed his wife had left on her own accord but other relatives are convinced she is dead. The mum-of-two, who sold perfume as an Avon lady, never made contact with her sons nor any of her three siblings.
The court heard Mrs Hall, who had had mental problems and had been treated at a psychiatric hospital, had wanted a divorce at the time. On the day she disappeared, neighbours overheard the couple arguing before she took off in the family car in the middle of the night.
Years later, in 1999, Mr Hall told the local press how his wife's disappearance and the subsequent accusations have "ruined" his life. He spoke of how he was trying to "get on" with his life but "something else always comes along to bring up the past again."
Drifting in an out of jobs while trying to raise his sons Andrew and Graeme, Mr Hall had plans to write a book about his experience while also looking at how West Yorkshire Police went about the investigation. According to Mrs Hall's sister, Mr Hall has also never tried to cash in his wife's life insurance - worth £100,000 in the 90s.
However, he cannot claim a penny until there has been an inquest into Mrs Hall's death. The request for an inquest has been repeatedly denied by various authorities over the years, despite extensive campaigning from Mrs Hall's family.
More recently, in 2011, Mr Hall, a bread delivery man, was jailed for four years after attacking his former neighbour with a brick. To this day, he maintains his innocence and said his wife's disappearance was "a mystery".
A new two-part documentary, which airs on Prime on November 25, will look back on the case and feature interviews with Mr Hall and other family members.
The Confession will air on November 25 on Prime Video.
