The Washington Commanders will not have to deal with the cameras when training camp opens in two weeks. Adam Schefter broke the news Wednesday that “Hard Knocks” will follow the New York Jets this summer.
NFL and NFL Films have selected the New York Jets to serve as this year’s team on Hard Knocks, per sources.

The Commanders, along with the Jets, Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints, were the final four contenders that the NFL could have forced to do “Hard Knocks.”
It was clear from the start that the Jets were the favorite, especially after trading for star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, someone from the Jets, Bears and Saints went on record to say they didn’t want anything to do with “Hard Knocks.”
Washington was the only team of the four that hadn’t publicly said it did not want to be featured on the reality show. Some in the organization felt that being on “Hard Knocks” could be good for the franchise, which will have a new owner likely before camp begins later this month.
There is also an in-season version of “Hard Knocks” that could still feature the Commanders.
NFL owners are expected to vote on Washington’s sale from Daniel Snyder to Josh Harris next week.
