The CIRCA Prize Award is back

Are you an artist or designer looking to get the creative juices flowing? The Cultural Institute of Radical Contemporary Arts (CIRCA) wants to see it, and is back with it’s annual prize awards— lighting up the screens of Piccadilly Circus with the works of 30 different international artists this September.

This special challenge calls for artists of all ages, backgrounds and practices to get involved— whether you’re an amateur or professional practitioner— this is your chance to see your work up on the big screen.

The focus for this year’s competition will be the theme of hope, as CIRCA looks towards harnessing a brighter future with the 20:23 manifesto ‘Hope: The Art of Reading What Is Not Yet Written.’

A much anticipated competition, the creative platform aims to support the next generation of talent globally— with previous winners including Joseph Wilson (CIRCA 20:21) and Mary Martins (CIRCA 20:22). This time, CIRCA will award £30,000 to aid fledgling creatives and their future practice alongside a new trophy designed by the incredible Ai Weiwei, who first launched the free public art programme in October 2020.

The lucky short-listers will be carefully considered by CIRCA’s prize jury of collaborators which includes Sir Frank Bowling, Douglas Gordon, Anne Imhof, Michèle Lamy, Shirin Neshat, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Josef O’Connor, amongst more.

Think your work could be next? All you have to do is submit a two-and-a-half minute piece of new or pre-existing work before midnight on Thursday 20 July, 2023. To apply, click here.
