The Chase's Paul Sinha says 'it stings' after TV BAFTA's acceptance speech was cut short

The Chase's Paul Sinha was overcome with emotion when it was announced The Chase had bagged a BAFTA at Sunday's award ceremony. The star was joined by his fellow Chasers - Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett and Jenny Ryan - to accept the award but many may have missed the emotional moment as the televised acceptance speech was cut short.

The popular quizzers picked up the award for best daytime show after being shortlisted alongside Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch and Moneybags and BBC's Richard Osman's House of Games. However, the full footage showing them collecting their award was shortened and only a brief clip of Mark accepting the award was shown during the 'other awards' section in the last few moments of the televised ceremony.

In the full clip shared on BAFTA's social media pages, Paul, who is best known by The Chase fans as The Sinnerman, was seen being comforted by his co-star Anne Hegerty aka The Governess as he wiped his eyes. One of the show's producers accepted the accolade and said presenter Bradley Walsh was "off watching the football" because they "really" didn't expect to win.

Taking to Twitter as the awards were airing on BBC One, Paul received 15.6k likes on a tweet saying it was "one of the proudest days" of his life. He said: "It looks like we may have been cut from the main show but just to say – The Chase won a Bafta today. One of the proudest days of my life, and rest assured we’ve had a drink".

He later shared a photograph alongside Ryan (The Vixen) which showed them both holding their golden awards. But 51-year-old Paul shared his disappointment that their win had only been given a brief mention saying "it sings a little".
