The Chase's Bradley Walsh walks off set in disbelief after 'rubbish' contestant makes history

Bradley Walsh ran off the set of The Chase in disbelief as a contestant netted a whopping five-figure sum after making ITV history for all the wrong reasons. The Chase returned on Thursday evening (June 15) as host Bradley, 63, welcomed another line-up of contestants to the show - Pete, Andrew, Janty and Kerri.

The four contestants put their knowledge to the test as they built up cash ahead of facing Chaser Jenny Ryan, known to viewers as The Vixen. Beautician Janty had surprised fans with her apparent lack of knowledge in the initial cash-builder round, answering none of the questions correctly and, therefore, meeting Jenny with no cash on the table.

Fans of the show expressed their confusion over Janty's "worst ever" cash-builder round on social media, with one questioning: "Did that actually just happen?"

Another viewer made a harsh dig at Janty, writing: "The most stupid competitor ever #TheChase"

But the Essex girl soon had viewers eating their words when it came to her showdown with Jenny. As The Vixen refused to offer Janty a sum lower than zero, she tempted her with an eye-watering higher offer of £40,000.

Janty made it through to the Final Chase, where she faced Jenny alone (ITV)

After branding her own performance as being "rubbish" and losing two of her fellow contestants, Janty told Bradley "you're only here once" as she accepted the high offer. To everyone's shock, Janty smashed her head-to-head with Jenny, managing to escape the Chaser and making it through to the Final Chase with a whopping £40,000.

Former Coronation Street star Bradley was unable to contain his surprise at Janty's victory. He ran off set with his arms in the air as he shouted: "I can't believe that!"

"Janty, that was tremendous," Bradley continued. "That will go down for me in Chase history.

"That was absolutely thrilling. I loved every second of that."

But despite Janty's unbelievable victory, the beautician failed to bring the same knowledge to the Final Chase. Standing as a one woman band, Janty was only able to answer six questions correctly, enabling Jenny to catch her within just 34 seconds.
