The Chase fans fume over player's low offer decision

The Chase fans have been left fuming after a contestant opted for the minus offer in his one-to-one trivia round. It happened on Thursday's (April 6) episode.

The player, Brian, took to the centre stage after a successful first round - and he chose to take the Chaser's offer of minus £3,000. This meant that if he managed to answer all his questions correctly, that amount would be deducted from the team's potential winnings.

Despite Brian managing to go back to his team and ultimately winning the ITV show with a shared prize of £12,000, some viewers could not get over his low offer decision. First up to face Chaser Paul Sinha from the team was Edinburgh marketing assistant Patrick, who managed to scoop £8,000 in his cash-builder round and take it back to the team, reports MailOnline.

Then came Linda, who also had a successful round and brought back £7,000 - taking their total to £15,000. Things appeared to be heading in a similar direction as Cork contestant Brian reached £6,000 in his cash-builder.

But rather than sticking with the amount he had earned, he decided to play it incredibly safe and take Paul's offer of minus £3,000. Managing to pass with flying colours, it was a bittersweet victory once the cash was deducted - and took the team's prize fund down to £12,000.

As third contestant Afreena didn't manage to make it through, this meant that it was three against one for the last round. The three then took on Paul in the final Chase and managed to win the money split evenly, meaning they went home with £4,000 each.

But on Twitter, some viewers said it could have been a much more successful win if Brian hadn't opted for the minus £3,000 offer. Some of them even suggested he get less money than his teammates.

"Got £4K, could have had £7k. Brian should forfeit his share," said one viewer. "You owe Linda and Patrick £1,500 each," commented a second.

Another wrote: "Still shocked he took the minus 3k, now they may go home with less than they got in their cash-builder."
