The Chase stunned viewers after a solo contestant took home an impressive £80,000 prize.
The ITV quiz show started off with four hopefuls - Dan, Annabelle, Toby and Sarah - who took to the hot seat to try and beat the Chaser. The hit show, hosted by Bradley Walsh, saw Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan go head to head with the contestants and try and stop them bagging the big prize.
And things looked good for Jenny for a while, after booting out all three other contestants it was left to Dan to try and secure a solo win for himself. As he stepped up to take on the Chaser, all chances of success rested in Dan's hands as he took on his cash builder round and secured £5,000, writes the Mirror.
When he stepped up in front of The Vixen, he was offered a chance of taking home £80,000 if he could get the right number of questions answered and make it home, as he said: "What have I got to lose? I’m going for the £80,000."
He managed to sail through the one on one round and then took on the Final Chase, securing 17 steps for The Vixen to beat. It was a close call, but with several successful pushbacks, he managed to take the win.
At one point it was looking like Jenny was going to get the win before she got the last answer incorrect and Dan's chance opened up again as he was tasked with answering which former president Israel's main airport was named after.
As he told host Bradley Walsh the answer was Ben Gurion, there was raucous cheers and applause, as Bradley celebrated him and asked him what he wanted to spend his money on. "I think I’ll be spending a little bit longer in New Zealand than initially planned!" he admitted, as Jenny praised him, adding: "Sensational. Dan deserves every penny of that, that was a sensational performance."
Before this, the accolade for highest solo winner was a contestant called Eden, who beat Darragh Ennis and took home £75,000. Elsewhere, the biggest ever win on the show was when four players secured a total of £100,000.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV.
