The Chase contestant receives brutal put-down from The Beast as he is booted off the show within minutes

The Chase returned to our screens on Monday night and saw Mark Labbett return to the hot seat, as the panel of contestants - Gareth, Aaron, Nicky and Julie - took on The Beast. Aaron, from Bristol, was up first on tonight's show and revealed he planned to spend his winnings by jetting himself and his girlfriend off to New York.

And it wasn't long before Labett, 57, got wired into the ITV show's contenders with his sarcastic jabs, as he gave a snide goodbye to contestant Aaron. He only managed to rake in a starting point of £1,000 which he said was "not the best, but it's something" as he took on the man of the hour.

"Oh, dear Aaron. Well it's enough there to get ONE of you to New York!," the TV personality sarcastically quipped. Aaron responded: "I think I'll just get her to pack her bags and then at least one of us is a winner," to which Mark exclaimed he thought it was "a very wise choice."

The Beast went on to offer a measley £100 to which he sarcastically said was "a value for money" in his situation poking fun at how he played the game so far, and went in at a high offer of £35,000 as a "free shot."

Aaron's team encouraged him to stick to his £1,000 and get back with the team, although teammate Gareth hinted he should even consider the lower one so they had an extra body for the final chase. He stuck to his guns and stood with his £1,000 offering on the table to which Mark sighed and said "I agree with Gareth, when you are as weak as you are take whatever will get you home!"

And it ended up that Aaron would have been better off listening to his teammate, as he was caught out by the chaser and sent packing despite The Beast taking a blind guess at the last answer.

"Gareth was right, if you had taken the lower offer you would have been back home but tarrah!," quipped Mark as he lapped up catching someone out so early on in the show.

Contestants Gareth, Nicky and Julie battled it out in the final chase but despite getting two knockbacks on the questions they were caught out with 24 seconds remaining. Host Bradley Walsh said: "Well, we lost the money but at least we had a laugh."
