The Charlatans singer Tim Burgess made a "subconscious" nod to the legendary Brian Clough at Nottingham's Rock City.
Manchester United fan Burgess was on stage on Saturday night, as The Charlatans' 30th Anniversary Best of Tour arrived in the city.
It was just hours after the Reds took another step towards promotion back to the top flight of English football where they shone under Clough, by beating Sheffield United 2-1 in the first leg of their Championship play-offs semi-final.

And some people in the crowd thought Burgess was paying tribute to Clough by wearing the kind of green sweatshirt made famous by Forest's greatest ever manager on the touchline at the City Ground.
Responding to a fan thanking him for an "amazing gig" on Twitter, with a picture of him during The Charlatans' performance in the Main Hall, Burgess wrote: "Some people thought my sweatshirt was a nod to Cloughie at our Nottingham gig.
"Wasn’t intentional but let’s call it a subconscious one."
