The wait is almost over for fans of The Celebrity Traitors, with the BBC confirming that the adored show will return to screens in just a matter of weeks.
Claudia Winkleman, fringed and clad in tartan and wool, will be back to host the smash-hit show’s second season on Thursday 1 October at 8pm.
The multi-award-winning game of deception will air two nights a week on Thursday and Friday evenings at 8pm.
A new trailer shows the celebrity players meet each other and take part in an explosive mission. Joining Winkleman in the Scottish Highlands this year are Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.
They will compete to win a prize of £100,000 for a charity of their choice.
“If this is the last time we’re friends, good luck,” Jama can be heard telling her fellow players in one of the classic Traitors jeeps.
“My heart is racing,” Ramsey, the star of The Last of Us, can be heard admitting at another point, while Ranganathan and Beckett are seen confronting each other over whether they are Traitors.
The official video podcast, The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, will also return to BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds with host Ed Gamble.
Series one of The Celebrity Traitors debuted on BBC One in October 2025 and was a runaway success, averaging 14.9 million viewers across the run with a peak of 15.4 million for the finale, which saw a giggling Alan Carr win the prize pot as an undetected Traitor.
According to Ed Havard, the BBC’s director of entertainment, the new series of Celebrity Traitors will see the stakes upped from its inaugural hit season last year, and will feature “tears” and “paranoia that’s off the scale”.
“The thing about this season is things happen that you didn't think could happen on Traitors, that you have never seen before,” he said, during an appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
Celebrity Traitors’ initial series featured a starry lineup including actors Celia Imrie and Nick Mohammed, musician Paloma Faith, author and actor Stephen Fry, presenter Jonathan Ross, and comedian Carr.
The classic, non-celebrity edition of the show is expected to return in January 2027.
