The Boys star says showrunner Eric Kripke didn't have a plan for A-Train after season 4, but season 5 will find the Supe in the "most dangerous place that he's ever been"

The Boys season 4.

It doesn't sound like fan-favorite superhero A-Train's road to the final season of The Boys has been easy, as star Jessie T. Usher says there was no plan for him after The Boys season 4.

"I think it was at the end of season four, when A-Train was making a stance. I figured that he was going to be leaving Vought, and there was no real safe place for him to turn. I reached out to Eric, and I just wanted to have a conversation with him," explained Usher in an interview with SFX Magazine.

"I ask him, “What’s the plan?” And he literally said to me, “Honestly, we don’t know.” We were all perplexed, like, “Oh shit, he’s backed himself into a corner with no way out!” It was like, “We’ll deal with that next year.” It was a crazy time, man."

However, fans can rest assured that we will see A-Train in The Boys season 5. It just sounds as though his story was a little up in the air for a time, which is probably due to his appearance in Gen V season 2. We last saw the Supe in the spin-off show, where he joined forces with Starlight's Annie and the Starlighters, fighting against Vought. According to Usher, this completely impacts A-Train going into season 5.

"He's in the most vulnerable, most dangerous place that he's ever been, and that's inclusive of the time that he spent directly under Homelander's watch," said Usher. "He has no allies. He's not really on the best of terms with The Boys. Essentially, he has made it known that he's not going to be a puppet anymore, and he's really just a one-man band."

A-Train has perhaps the most interesting character arc out of the whole series. We first met him after he accidentally killed Hughie's girlfriend back in the very first episode. However, over time, the cocky Supe has shifted his attitude, so much so that he has broken away from Vought and is now on the right side of the fight. With this in mind, it is sad to think that A-Train will be alone in season 5.

However, we can see him joining forces with Stralight again, as the Boys are going to need all the help they can get when trying to rein in Butcher and fight Homelander.
