Gen V won't be returning for a third season, but prequel Vought Rising is pushing ahead with a 2027 release date.
Per Deadline, The Boys spin-off series centered on young Supes at a Supe-only university has been cancelled after just two seasons. The Boys creator Eric Kripke previously warned that there may not be a third season due to lower viewership in season 2 (though I also think the tragic passing of one of its lead actors may have something to do with it).
"While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon," Kripke and Evan Goldberg said in a joint statement. "You’ll see them again."
Vought Rising, however, has been given a 2027 release date. The prequel series is a "twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront." The cast includes Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Aya Cash as Stormfront, Mason Dye as Bombsight, Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, Will Hochman as Torpedo, and Ethan Slater reprising his role from Gen V as Dr. Thomas Godolkin.
