The Boys season 5 has a lot riding on it, but judging by the first reviews for the show's final season, it may actually live up to the expectations of fans. That's been a tough accomplishment for many recent high profile series finales, so viewers seem to have a lot to look forward to as the hardcore superhero epic comes to its conclusion.
At the time of this writing, the final season of The Boys sits at a nigh-unimpeachable 96% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on critic scores. Admittedly, there is sometimes a discrepancy between how critics receive media versus how fans receive it, but the fact that it's garnering such great praise early on is a welcome sign for those beleaguered by how disappointing some series finales can be.
Lost and Game of Thrones are the two most notorious examples, but the recent conclusion of Stranger Things is a more recent example of a series ending that left many fans in the lurch - so polarizing, in fact, that there was even a movement among some viewers who believed that there was still one more secret episode waiting in the wings that would answer all the questions left on the table by the actual finale.
I'm personally expecting a bloodbath that leaves very little on the table. Everyone involved in the show is preparing fans for a season that will devastate The Boys and Homelander's army of sinister Supes alike. And of course, there's the lingering question of who will kill Homelander and how they might do it, something just about everyone who watches is waiting with baited breath to find out.
