The Boston Celtics were not themselves in their high-profile road matchup with the Denver Nuggets, the reigning NBA champs sneaking by Boston’s best efforts. The Celtics played sloppy on defense and with the ball in key junctures of the tilt, and their offense was a bit of a mess.
But adding in the atrocious shooting of the team from the charity stripe and some poor decision-making in the contest’s final seconds would ultimately make a solid comeback from the Celtics fizzle out. Star Boston forward Jayson Tatum in particular had a bad game, and it was very clear postgame that the team was disappointed in itself for how they played in such an important contest.
