‘The Book of Clarence’ a bold but bewildering commentary on Christ

LaKeith Stanfield plays a hustler posing as a messiah in “The Book of Clarence.” (Columbia Pictures)

Somewhere between the sacred and profane comes “The Book of Clarence,” a retelling of The Greatest Story Ever Told that arrives in theaters, appropriately, between Christmas and Easter.
