The Block host Scott Cam broke the “disappointing” news about Kylie and Brad Baker to the rest of the cast on Monday night, and one team said the couple will likely “regret” their decision.
You see, Kylie and Brad abruptly quit The Block on Sunday night. Kylie had a bit of a fight with Scott Cam during judging, then threatened to break the crew’s cameras if they kept filming her, before running away barefoot down a dark road.
She was eventually coaxed back into a vehicle by her husband Brad, but she told him she wouldn’t be returning to The Block, even if it meant giving up any profits or potential prize money.
For the final The Block challenge, the entire cast (well, apart from Kylie and Brad) and some returning All-Star contestants came together for “Clubhouse week”.
Scott Cam broke the news that Kylie and Brad wouldn’t be coming back, saying: “It’s a really disappointing situation that we’ve found ourselves in. The competition now is between four houses only. Kylie and Brad are not returning.”
It could prove a costly mistake for the departed couple, because the winner of this challenge will be awarded $50,000 off the reserve price for their house at auction. That could be the difference between winning the $100,000 grand prize or not!
Ricky Recard told producers that while Kylie and Brad were his “best mates” on the show, “to get to the very end and let that be the last thing that you do, I can’t help but think that she will regret it”.
“I can believe Kylie and Brad have left. When Kylie makes her mind up, she makes her mind up and there’s no changing that,” Grant Freeman chimed in.
Charlotte Harry, who famously bore the brunt of Kylie’s anger throughout her time on The Block, was still diplomatic in what she had to say. “I feel like the last 12 weeks have been a slog, but this is meant to be a fun week, so I’m like, you’ve missed the best week almost, so it was a bit of a shame,” she said.
Now… I’m sure we were all waiting to see what Mimi Belperio had to say. After all, she’s kinda the reason this whole drama kicked off. You see, Kylie first flew off the handle and quit (for the first time) when she caught her husband Brad flirting with Mimi, saying he’d follow her OnlyFans account if she had one.
Turns out she didn’t say much, at all. Could she possibly be feeling a bit guilty? It’s hard to tell!
“What can you do, that’s their decision. It’s a bit disappointing,” Mimi declared.
What happens if Kylie and Brad skip the auction?
Naturally, there’s been a bit of an uproar about what’s going to happen if Kylie and Brad give the auction a miss. A bunch of contestants have said they don’t think it’s fair for the pair to still walk away with the same amount of profit and prize money won because they left the show early.
However, Yahoo! Lifestyle reported there’s a “secret clause” which means the duo are eligible to walk away with a shitload of cash.
“There was a lot more that needed to be finished by [production] after the couple quit the show. House Four was the least completed property and other builders just finished it off and made a lot of the remaining decisions,” a contestant claimed.
“It seems unreasonable not to finish your house and still be eligible for the same percentages.”
Ouch. It looks like there will be plenty of drama to come when it’s auction time! I still believe Kylie is gonna rock up, but guess we’ll see on November 9!
