The Block star Paige Beechey has slammed reports she and fiancé Jesse Maguire left the 2024 season to save their relationship.
In an exclusive interview with PEDESTRIAN.TV, Beechey says the “relationship theory is not even close to the truth” of why the couple quit the show halfway through filming, but wouldn’t give the real reason just yet.
“We understand that [the producers’] narrative, shaped by their edits, might suggest otherwise – however the true reason won’t start to unfold until around week three, and even then, it won’t be played out on camera for the audience in true form,” she says.
The couple leave the show around week six with Executive Producer Julian Cress saying the pair leave for a “strong reason” and in a “very dramatic” fashion. They’ll be replaced by two Sydney sisters Maddy and Charlotte who will finish the build for House 1.

There was a separate rumour that producers had overheard “heated exchanges” Jesse and Paige were having on their hot microphones, leading producers to give the pair the go-ahead to leave. While we still don’t know the reason for their exit, Paige admits the producers were listening to their conversations.
“The producers heard everything we said on our microphones. During the briefing at the start of filming, we were advised that even private moments, such as when we went to the toilet, were being listened to,” she spills.
“When you’re mic’d up for almost 19 hours a day they are going to hear everything and you just can’t care about it because you have no choice.”
Jesse and Paige have been also shown on TV as having a truly terrible time on The Block, but she stresses this wasn’t the case. While we’ve seen Paige call some sponsors “arseholes” and breaking down in tears over the way things have played out, she insists the couple had “far more good times than bad times”.
The couple still maintains great friendships with all their castmates – including their replacements Maddy and Charlotte.

“We’re not naive to the absolute chaos [producers] are chalking our experience up to be, and it’s a shame that everything that has been shown is not in the context in which it happened,” she said, referring to their “edit”.
“We had a great relationship with our builder, which continues to this very day… we keep in touch with sponsors and local business owners from the island daily.”
The pair are said to have left the show halfway through filming, and while walking away from a potential payday sounds like hell, they’re pleased with their choice.
“Leaving The Block was easily the best decision we made. Absolutely no regrets,” Paige declares.
