The Block has been serving the most dramatic meltdowns ever seen on the hit renovations show, to the point where viewers legit have MAFS déjà vu. But last night’s walk-out by Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey definitely took the cake.
ICYMI: during last night’s episode, Perth couple Jesse and Paige quit the show in spectacular fashion after biffing with each other all season long.
In a brutal hot mic moment, the engaged couple were caught arguing off camera, with Paige questioning their relationship and stating: “There is no us.”
“I don’t give a fuck how you feel – deal with it yourself,” Paige was heard saying, before threatening to quit the show.

As their couple spat escalated throughout the evening, a producer stepped in and suggested that the couple speak to the show’s counsellor.
“It seems like a relationship that’s getting pretty bad. Your neighbours can hear you too, you know?” he said to them.
“You don’t have to voice all of your stuff just to Jesse. We need to get some other people in to talk to you, where you guys need to make a big decision.”
Days later, the couple announced that they were leaving the series.
Why did Jesse and Paige leave The Block?
An insider close to production has shared that “the first five weeks of The Block were some of the hardest storylines to shoot.”
“Many of the story producers struggled to sit by and watch the drama between Jesse and Paige unfold,” the source told PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“Jesse and Paige of course had some really fun moments on the show”, the source continued, but it became clear over time that perhaps weren’t cut out for the show.
The source added that “some of the most shocking moments captured were off their car cameras and on the hot microphones at nighttime”.
“The cars are actually an interesting part of the filming as there are no producers — it is just them talking by themselves. They choose what to say and producers can’t interject,” the source added.
“However, the producers are on site listening at all times but then there are other executives who can log in and listen remotely. Even from home. The tension really built in the last 24 hours and Australia saw that play out on camera.”

The insider claimed that the producers were “really concerned by the late night audio” as the couple weighed up whether or not to stay on the show.
“It got worse and worse each day. The other houses could hear the fighting and were also scared to approach House One,” the source claimed.
“Something needed to be done and eventually it became a priority to do what was best for them and everyone felt overwhelmed and sad to see them go.”
And before you ask if the couple were given a bad edit, lemme stop you right there. According to our source, this was not the case at all. It genuinely was as bad as what we saw (sometimes worse).
“People are talking about the edit. Honestly, at times it was worse than what has been seen and while they didn’t always fight — it was the main part of their storyline and it was the truth behind their overall time on the show,” they said.
“The couple were asked to wait until all the cameras were set up on their last morning in each house and then they went around saying their final goodbyes. Which was heartbreaking for everyone. Especially House Four who had really adopted Paige.”
The source also claimed that Jesse asked producers “repeatedly” if he could “pick someone else to film the show” but they “wouldn’t budge”.
The source concluded: “Jesse and Paige arrived home the next day and then six weeks later their belongings followed. The Block compassionately cares for all of their contestants and staff and they do care about their viewers.”
The Block’s host Scott Cam has since praised the couple’s decision to leave the show.
“When these guys were struggling and we could see it, we got professional help, we had extensive chats and we made sure that they were comfortable. They made the decision themselves,” Scott told 9Now.
“We followed up with professional care in their home state to make sure that was ongoing for as long as they needed it.”
