West Ham United manager David Moyes has revealed he missed Monday night’s crucial Premier League draw between Leicester City and Everton due to a satellite issue with his television.
The Hammers’ 60-year-old boss finds his team in the midst of a relegation battle, sat 15th in the table and just four points clear of the bottom three with only five games remaining in their league campaign.
On Monday night, Leicester hosted Everton, with the game starting out as 18th hosting 19th. A 2-2 draw meant that Leicester climbed to 16th, but level on points with Leeds United (17th) and Nottingham Forest (18th) on 30 points, cutting West Ham’s advantage on the bottom three from five points to four.

While West Ham would have been still four points clear if either side won, a draw did mean that both sides missed out on maximum points, giving West Ham some breathing space going into their game in hand away at Premier League leaders Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Asked ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium if Moyes was watching on, the Scottish boss said that he intended to watch the game, but an issue with the satellite on his home television meant he could not.
“I didn’t pay any attention to it because my tele wasn’t working, so I had no satellite signal so I never ended up getting to watch the game,” said Moyes. “I was going through my phone so unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the game.”
Asked whether he was happy about both teams only taking a point from the game, Moyes responded by saying he was more focused on his team’s own fixtures.
In West Ham’s next five games, they face Man City, Manchester United, and a trip to Brentford in between both legs against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in their semi-final clash in the Europa Conference League, a run he is looking forward to tackling.
“It has nothing to do with me to be honest, we can only concentrate on our games and look at what we have to do. We’ve got a lot of big games coming up,” added Moyes. “We’ve got a big European night coming up in a week’s time as well, so we’ve got a lot of good games coming.”
