Maxwel Cornet has stressed the importance of Thursday's UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final clash vs Gent while admitting winning the competition would be 'the best thing' in his injury riddled debut season.
West Ham United are unbeaten in European competition this season as they seek to do better than last season's semi-final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League.
Cornet missed five months of football this season with a calf injury but still managed to assist three goals in four European games this season.

And ahead of the first-leg tie, the 26-year-old has said the team are focused on lifting the trophy next month and that having had a difficult first season in east London, following his summer move from Burnley, he is willing to do everything to win the competition.
“The Conference League is important,” Cornet confirmed to West Ham's website. “You can’t underestimate this competition, it’s an important competition, for us the players, for the Club and the coach too. So, in every game in this tournament, we will give 100 per cent.
“European experience is really important for this kind of game because it’s a high level and we know we want to do something in this competition, so we all have to be focused on this goal.
“European football is different, but you have the same goal. To win a trophy for the club can be the best thing for me for my first season. It was not a season for me with my injury, but now I am back and I want to do everything to go to the final and win this trophy.”
