After three years testing the best Steam Deck accessories, these are the gadgets I'd buy for Valve's handheld day one

I get it, picking up all the best Steam Deck accessories on day one is tricky. The last thing you'll want to do is spend even more moolah on cases, screen protectors, and docking stations when you've just splashed out over $400 on the gaming handheld, but at the same time, grabbing additional gear will help the portable thrive.

The good news is that one of the best Steam Deck accessories actually comes with Valve's powerhouse. Upon tearing into the Steam Deck OLED or LCD model, you'll notice it's already living inside a travel case. This zip-up shell is great for ensuring your newly acquired portable doesn't get pummeled during journeys, but you might want to pick up one that better fits your specific preferences.
