The Steam Summer Sale may be over, but Sony’s PlayStation Summer Sale is just getting underway. The annual sale cuts prices on some of the best PS4 games and PS5 games, from Sony’s first-party favorites, including The Last of Us Part 1 and Horizon Forbidden West, to third-party stalwarts including Red Dead Redemption 2, and even a selection of new games that haven’t gone on sale much so far in 2023. If you’re itching for something new in the lead-up to Spider-Man 2, now’s a good time to get it.
The PlayStation Summer Sale runs through Aug. 16, 2023, and if you’re a PS Plus subscriber, you can get a few extra discounts as well.
Elden Ring - $41.99
Set forth in The Lands Between for $41.99 on PS4 and PS5 in 2022’s smash hit Elden Ring. It’s Dark Souls action with open-world exploration and one of FromSoft’s most intriguing stories, and there’s a DLC expansion in the works as well.
Cyberpunk 2077 - $24.99
Cyberpunk 2077 is the least buggy it’s been since launch and the most complete it’ll be until Phantom Liberty launches in September 2023. If you want to see what Night City’s got in store for you, grab it for half off the usual price at $24.99.
The Last of Us Part 1 - $49.69
The PS5 remaster of Naughty Dog’s modern classic is down to $49.69 from it’s usual $70 price point. It doesn’t really add anything new to the survival horror game, but then again, it doesn’t really have to.
The Last of Us Part 2 - $19.99
The Last of Us Part 2 being discounted to $19.99 is something of a tradition in PlayStation sales, and the summer sale is no different.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition - $39.69
The Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales comes with Miles’ own game and the PS5 remaster of Insomniac’s Spider-Man – the perfect way to catch up ahead of Spider-Man 2 – and it’s all bundled together for $39.69.
Theatrhythm Final Bar Line - $37.49
If you love Final Fantasy music, then Final Bar Line is for you. It’s the first time Square Enix’s rhythm spinoff has appeared on console, and it includes dozens of challenges from mainline Final Fantasy games, spinoffs such as Type-0, and, if you buy the DLC, even tracks from The World Ends with You and Octopath Traveler. Final Bar Line is going for $37.49.
Like A Dragon: Ishin - $38.99
It’s a big year for RGG Studio. Not only is Yakuza Gaiden planned for launch in November 2023, but Like A Dragon Ishin finally launched outside Japan for the first time in nearly a decade. Ishin may tell a serious historical story, but it’s full of the series’ trademark humor and heart. You can grab it for $38.99.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade - $39.89
The PS5 remaster of Final Fantasy 7 Remake includes the Episode Yuffie DLC, and it’s down to $39.89. The next chapter, Final Fantasy 7 Remake part two launches in early 2024, so if you haven’t experienced the reimagined take on Cloud and co.’s adventure, now’s a good time to do it.
Wild Hearts - $41.99
EA’s take on Monster Hunter only launched in February 2023, but it’s on sale for $41.99, down from its usual $69.99. A Fortnite-style building system and some unique weapons make this more than just another monster-hunting RPG, and we quite liked it in our review.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga - $197.9
Skywalker Saga bundles all the numbered Star Wars films into one Lego package, with dozens of characters and no shortage of the series’ trademark tongue-in-cheek humor. It’s a feature-filled package all ages can enjoy, and you can grab it for $19.79.
The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - $39.59
The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice includes the base game and both DLC expansions, plus some revamps and visual improvements. The enhanced version is on sale for $39.59, its first big discount since launching earlier in 2023.
Red Dead Redemption 2 - $19.79
It wouldn’t be a sale without Red Dead Redemption 2 being discounted to $19.79. Rockstar’s sequel-prequel follows the tragic tale of Arthur Morgan and a band of misfits and outlaws in a story that’s as much about Arthur as it is the social situation of America in the Gilded Age. Red Dead 2 earned its reputation as one of the best open-world games for a reason.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen - $5.09
Capcom is cooking up Dragon’s Dogma 2, but if you want to get in on the dark, high-fantasy game’s prequel, you can do it for $5.09. It’s an unorthodox RPG with a unique minion management system and a complex world that belies its deceptively simple appearance.
Horizon Forbidden West - $29.99
Aloy’s bigger, grander second adventure is going for $29.99 on PS4, and you can download a free PS5 upgrade if you’re playing on that system. It’s a sprawling epic that builds on everything Zero Dawn did well, including Aloy herself, who’s much more expressive and full of personality this time.
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - $29.39
The PS5-exclusive Ratchet and Clank game is down to $29.39 ahead of its launch on Steam. The duo’s latest adventure – or more accurately, the trio, with Rivet involved – sees them hopping through time and space in a bid to save the world, and it’s one of the PS5’s best games so far.
Dead Space Remake - $48.99
If you’re brave enough to head back to the U.S.S. Ishimura, remastered in exquisite detail, you can grab Dead Space remake for $48.99. Resident Evil 4 remake might have overshadowed it, but the Dead Space remake is just as much a masterpiece of horror.
Forspoken - $34.99
Forspoken didn’t exactly have a shining launch, with its rough writing and rushed story overshadowing some thoughtful worldbuilding and combat. If you wanted to see for yourself how Frey’s journey across the mystical land of Athia unfolds, though, you can grab it for $34.99.
