Ayrshire GP surgeries have been ranked from best to worst in a recent survey.
The Scottish Government's Health and Care Experience Survey 2021/22 asked 130,000 people across the country what they think about their local practice.
Almost 8,000 Ayrshire residents (7,915) took part in the questionnaire — 26 per cent of those asked to take part.
One question asked was: 'Overall, how would you rate the care provided by your GP practice?'.
In response to the question, Ballantrae Medical Practice was rated as the best in the region with a near perfect score of 97 per cent. No one said the care they received was 'negative' at the surgery. And just three per cent were 'neutral' on the question.
Barns Medical Practice in Ayr was second best with a 95 per cent rating and 1 per cent of those surveyed taking a negative view. Drs McMaster, Moore & Brooksbank in Girvan took third with 90 per cent and 4 per cent negative reviews.
Ballochmyle Medical Group in Catrine was ranked as the worst in Ayrshire with just 28 per cent scoring the care provided as 'positive'. While more than half (54 per cent) said they'd had a negative experience.
Ayrshire Medical Group, based in Stevenston was second-worst in the area with 29 per cent positive and 35 per cent negative. Kilmarnock's Portland Medical Practice was third-worst with 48 per cent positive and 25 per cent negative.
The biggest 'positive response to a question in Ayrshire overall was: 'Experience of your GP Practice: I understood the information I was given' with 90 per cent responding positively. While More than half (57 per cent) responded negatively to: 'If you ask to make an appointment with a doctor 3 or more working days in advance, does your GP allow you to?'
