York Christmas Market
If you are looking for a place to enjoy a Christmas market then you will enjoy York. Held from November 17 to December 23, there is plenty of time to visit the city and see the sights.
Known as St Nicholas’ Fair, the market has been operating since 1992. There will be all sorts of gifts, food and drink for you to enjoy.
Harrogate Christmas Market
Located much closer to Leeds than the market in York, the Harrogate Christmas Fayre is a good choice for people from Leeds to visit. Opening on December 2 and remaining open until December 11, this market will be in place across Harrogate centre.
Visit Harrogate says there will be artisan gifts, treats and Christmas decorations for you to buy.
Sheffield Christmas Market
Slightly further afield, but easily accessible by train from Leeds or by car, the Sheffield Christmas Market will be open in the city from November 18. It will then be open throughout December.
Christmas Markets around Leeds
While these three markets are the larger ones near Leeds, there are still some smaller markets available in the city. These will be much smaller in scale, but are a great way to support local businesses.
The Otley Christmas Market is one of these, open on December 4 for one day. Known locally as the Victorian Fayre, residents dress up in Victorian clothing with plenty of stores getting involved.
Farsley also has a market, the Sunny Bank Mills Christmas Market, and will be held between November 25 and November 27. Located inside the 1912 mill, the organisers say more than 50 local artists will be there each day.
The Leeds Winter Market will also be open again this year inside the Royal Armouries’ New Dock Hall on December 4. The market will contain street food, a bouncy castle, workshops and live entertainment.
