Beeston residents have said students leaving their cars parked on the street has resulted in them 'taking their lives into their own hands'. One woman said her drive was blocked for five days, leaving her unable to drive to her ill sister.
The "irresponsible" parking has been plaguing Peveril Road and surrounding streets for years, according to residents. "When they park on the corner and on the edges of your drive you can't see when you're turning," pointed out Phil Hembury, who has lived on the street with his wife for more than 30 years.
"When I come out I take my life into my own hands. You can't see what's coming up and down. There's been about three accidents around here."

The 72-year-old also said binmen are sometimes unable to collect residents' dustbins due to the positioning of the parked cars. "The road is too narrow because of the parking, they can't get the lorries down," said Mr Hembury.
Another resident, an elderly woman who wished to remain anonymous, said a university student's parking meant she was unable to get her car off her drive for five days. "It's very bad. I couldn't get out of the drive for nearly a week," she told Nottinghamshire Live.
"Students leave their cars and if you put a note on them telling them not to park there they just tear it up and leave it on the street. My sister was ill at the time, she has Alzheimer's. When I had her about it she said 'I thought you could get out' but I couldn't, she was parked right in front of my drive. She was oblivious to it."
Residents said want to see a permit system introduced, which they believe will deter students.
