The Bears radio broadcast had the saddest call for the Commanders’ Hail Mary touchdown catch

Behind star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Washington Commanders pulled off the most stunning play of the NFL season thus far with their Hail Mary touchdown to Noah Brown against the Bears.

We’ve already heard the Commanders’ electric call for the play, and that booth of Bram Weinstein and London Fletcher was understandably fired up. How could they not be?

But for as excited as the Commanders were about the win, you had absolute devastation on the Bears’ side. That was awfully clear in the radio call from the Bears’ booth of play-by-play announcer Jeff Joniak and color commentator Tom Thayer.

Joniak tried to play it off nonchalantly at first as Thayer screamed, “Oh! He caught it!” And then we could hear as Joniak got increasingly frustrated describing the defensive breakdown of that play.

Equal parts sad and angry — great job all around.
