Vladimir Putin said he is imposing martial law on the four regions of Ukraine recently illegally annexed by Moscow, as thousands of Russians are evacuated from the city of Kherson ahead of advancing Kyiv forces.
The Russian president announced the move in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia, none of which, though, are under full Russian control and whose annexation has not been recognised by the West.
