The Batman actress reveals how character is different from previous versions

Zoë Kravitz has revealed her character in The Batman movie is different from others that have come before her.

The American actress who plays Selina Kyle, more popularly known as Catwoman, in the latest Dark Knight adaptation starring Robert Pattinson, has said she interpreted her character as a bisexual woman.

In one scene in the film, which hits cinemas today, DC fans see the skilled street thief enter her apartment looking for her friend, who she refers to as ‘baby’.

While this could be seen as platonic, Zoë admitted she looked at it from a different perspective.

In an interview with Pedestrian, the daughter of Lenny Kravitz said: “That’s definitely the way I interpreted that, that they had some kind of romantic relationship.”

When the interviewer expressed joy at the idea of Zoë’s Catwoman being bisexual, the 33-year-old added: “I agree."

Director Matt Reeves also added hype to the theory.

In another interview for the outlet, he said: “(The film is) very true to the character of Selina Kyle. She’s not yet Catwoman, but all the elements of how she’s going to become Catwoman are there.

“I don’t think we meant to go directly in that way, but you can interpret it that way for sure. She has an intimacy with that character and it’s a tremendous and deep caring for that character, more so than a sexual thing, but there was meant to be quite an intimate relationship between them.”

Besides potentially watching Catwoman’s relationship with another female character blossom, fans can expect to see Liverpool make an appearance in the blockbuster movie.

It is believed that 75% of the film's production took place in the city with its Georgian architecture and waterfront doubling up as Gotham City and St George’s Hall being used for pivotal scenes in the film.
