The Boston Celtics are an increasingly trendy pick to win it all after the NBA media had fallen out of love with the club to a degree after the Celtics’ rough offseason and mid-season turbulence. Their strong finish to the 2022-23 season has sold the club to some prominent analysts as a likely champion.
Among them is the Athletic’s John Hollinger, who has Boston defeating the Denver Nuggets as his official postseason NBA Finals pick in a recent, in-depth analysis of the field you should check out here.
Buy Celtics Tickets“Boston is a tricky title pick because Tatum isn’t quite on the level of the league’s superduperstars, but the Celtics have a nine-deep rotation for the playoffs with positional versatility and few weaknesses,” he writes.
“They match up really well against the one team they definitely need to beat (the Milwaukee Bucks), and they would have home-court advantage against every other opponent.”

“I would take the field over any individual team, especially given how tight the top three in the East are, but if forced to pick, I’ll take Boston to win it all,” Hollinger closes, projecting a Nuggets-Celtics series to go to Boston in six games.
We might be a little early in the process to feel as comfortable about such an outcome, but Hollinger’s path to such a projection is a compelling one, so we’ll take it.
