Price hikes, fuel shortages and other cost increases have left millions of people across the UK facing a cost of living crisis.
This month Ofgem announced the energy price cap would be going up by £693 in April - a 54% rise - and experts said they expect the cap to rise even further to £2,329 for six months from October.
Set against a backdrop of National Insurance rises and increases to food prices, interest rates and council tax, it has left many hugely worried about how they will meet their basic costs.
The price cap was £1,042 between October 2020 and March 2021. In April 2022, it will rise to £1,971 - 89% higher than that figure.
We have applied that 89% rise to the median estimated energy costs per year in each local authority in Wales, which have been taken from the Office for National Statistics from March 2021, to work out what the rise in fuel prices will mean for those in each area of the country.
According to those figures, it means Ceredigion could see the highest energy bill increase in April at £971.88, and Cardiff would see the smallest increase at £602.53, followed closely by Newport.
It is important to note that this applies to those on default tariffs paying by direct debit, not prepayment customers.
